![]() The peeler didn’t move at all until we released the lever. The rubber base has a lever that suctions the peeler to the counter, and that worked well during tests. However, jamming super-hard sweet potatoes on the spikes was a bit more difficult than apples or regular potatoes. Peeling with this tool is easy, fast, and fun, and once we got the hang of inserting vegetables onto the spikes that hold them, we got quicker. We also had to cut our long sweet potatoes to fit. With some potatoes, we had to do a little trimming to remove sections of peel. This worked best with foods that were more round rather than uneven or oval. We successfully peeled and cored apples, and moved on to peeling potatoes and sweet potatoes. The peeling blade is adjustable to two settings for smaller foods or deeper peeling, or for larger foods or less aggressive peeling. When you’ve accumulated a pile of potato, apple, tomato, and zucchini peels, you can wash this in the dishwasher.īuilt for peeling, coring, and slicing apples, this can be converted to peel-only mode for potatoes or for other fruits and vegetables that don’t need to be cored or sliced. The potato eye removers jut out from the sides of the peeler and are hollow circles, so they can also be used for getting a strand of zest from citrus fruits. While this worked well peeling tomatoes, we found that it was best to move the peeler side-to-side rather than pulling it in the direction of the cut. It performed best when used with a light touch, which made it less tiring to use. Unlike some of the metal peelers, this required very little force to get a good cut. In testing, this felt very smooth when peeling. Like Kyocera’s ceramic knives, the blade on this peeler is made from the company’s proprietary zirconia material that will stay sharp much longer than similar metal knives. This Y-shaped peeler won’t rust or corrode, and the ceramic material minimizes food browning, which is great when you’re peeling large quantities of apples or potatoes. Kyocera is known for its incredibly sharp ceramic knives, so it’s no surprise that it also offers peelers with ceramic blades. In fact, this has been one tester's go-to peeler for three years and she always throws it into the dishwasher when she's done with it.Įasy to break when dropped or used roughly It took an average of 30 seconds per potato to peel average-sized potatoes, and we loved watching the peels fall away from the peeler rather than getting stuck in the blade.įor easy cleaning, it can be washed by hand or in the dishwasher. We found that the handle was comfortable to hold even after a long session with potatoes, and the blade cut in both directions, making it ideal for any cutting method and for both left- and right-handed users. The metal eye at the top lets you remove eyes from potatoes without reaching for a knife, and the hole in the handle can be used for hanging this peeler on a hook. No matter what, it cut easily and felt smooth. ![]() We tested it with potatoes, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, and tomatoes, as well as some limes. The swiveling blade moves at exactly the right angle to peel vegetables with ease, and after peeling a virtual produce bin’s worth of vegetables, we couldn’t find anything this peeler couldn’t handle. The upgraded version of a classic OXO peeler, this one has a slightly better grip, a sharper blade, and is built to be even sturdier than the original. Dozens of potatoes were peeled, as well as other fruits and veggies, to test out the peelers' multitasking capabilities and discover the best potato peelers on the market today. To help you figure out which potato peeler or peelers are right for your needs, we tested them out side-by-side and evaluated each on its design, performance, versatility, ease of use, and ease of cleaning. Since they’re inexpensive, it’s also nice to have a spare, so you’re not waiting for the dishwasher to finish before you can peel the Yukons. With a few exceptions, peelers are among the least expensive kitchen gadgets, so it’s not unusual to see several different peelers in the gadget drawer-each with its own purpose-because peeling carrots is much different than peeling tomatoes. Which shape you choose is all about personal preference. There are two basic shapes for handheld potato peelers: straight or Y-shaped. From the general shape of the peeler and the blade material to the handle material and the color, there are a lot of options from which to choose. Unlike spoons, though, there are a lot of differences between models. Peelers might be one of the most common kitchen gadgets, right alongside wooden spoons.

To test the midi connection, it asks you to plug one midi cable into the midi ports, thus creating a loop that I assume it uses to test the flow of midi. I've put the XP-80 into test mode ( with help from these instructions), but wasn't able to deduce much from it. I'm not an electrical engineer, so that's about the extent of what I can do there. I've opened up the innards of the XP-80 to make sure there aren't any cables that are unplugged. I'm sending "bank/program select" information in the midi data from Reaper to the XP-80 That is the channel I've got Reaper sending the midi to on the XP-80. Local Switch is set to "OFF" on the XP-80 Nick Cooper's old training video on how to send midi to the Roland XP-80 and have it read it Kenny Goia's very helpful video on how to do this in Reaper (though not specifically for the XP-80) Here are the resources I've consulted thus far to try to figure this out: However, here's the problem: When I play the midi track in Reaper which is being sent to the XP-80, I don't get any sound out of the XP-80 (boo!). When I play the keys on the XP-80, I can monitor it within Reaper and hear everything perfectly (again, huzzah!). I'm routing the XP-80 audio signal coming in from the Audient iD14 into a track on Reaper. I can play the keys on the XP-80 and get signal in the Audient iD14 and hear everything great (huzzah!). To get audio out of the XP-80, I've got a cable running from the XP-80's MIX out to the Direct Input on an Audient iD14. I also get "Active Sense" messages from the XP-80 as well when the midi cable is plugged in.) When I play the keyboard, Midi Monitor sees the data and I can record it into Reaper. (And, for what it's worth, the Roland XP-80 can send midi data to Reaper. I know it is sending the data because I'm monitoring it via this "Midi Monitor" software. I've got a track in Reaper with midi data on it that I've routed to send to Channel 1 on the XP-80. I've got my XP-80 connected with my Mac via a midi-to-USB cable ( this cheap cable I bought 10 years ago). I've literally spent hours trying to figure out why I can't make this work and it's driving me crazy. I'd like to be able to create midi tracks in Reaper that I can send to my Roland XP-80 to use some of its patches. Going round the place I was disappointed the musemn was not open and doesn't look like it wll be very soon as it's a building work inside and then there is all the massive building works that is going on around the place. Located in the city’s bustling financial district in Downtown Manhattan it offers some of the most breath-taking views across the city up the One World Observatory and it is home to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. I also think if you are going to open it to public then why not wait till it's fully completed. When planning your visit to New York City, One World Trade Center also known as Freedom Tower must be on the bucket list. I agree with another reviewer that it is heading towards being a 'tourist attraction' and to me this is not a place that should become another attraction, it was the scene of a very tragic event and no one will ever forget but I saw some very disrespectful people that day - one woman taking photos of a family taking a stencilled copy of what I assume was a family members name from one of the fountains and school children running around screaming at each other no teacher keeping them in line in a place where so many lives were lost. To avoid wasting time in tiresome lines, we recommend visitors pre-book tickets.Lines too long for getting into the area and so many ticket checks (4) if you've made it through security and it is all cordoned off then why a further 2 checks! It was a dull misty wet day when I was there and it all lent to the atmosphere of the place and seeing all those names engraved on fountains brings back the sad and tragic events. The number of tickets is limited by scheduled turns, which means, that visitors must buy their tickets in advance. The One World Observatory would be our third favorite. This said, the city’s best viewpoints are without a doubt: The Empire State Building Observatory followed by the Top of the Rock since both offer different sensations. The whole experience, from as soon as you walk inside the building, take the elevator covered by led panels that recreate the growth of the city from it once founded. If you enjoy modern architecture and want to observe New York City from its new iconic skyscraper, we recommend the One World Observatory. This makes it harder to get a good photograph and visitors won’t feel the pulse of the city like from the other viewpoints. Sadly, unlike the observation decks of the Empire State and Rockefeller Center, the One World Observatory does not have an outdoor terrace, it's all interior with large glass windows. The 360° views give visitors a vision of up to 80 km in all directions. It's the tallest observatory in New York. The One World Observatory occupies the last three floors of the skyscraper (floors 100 – 102) and reaches a height of 386.5 meters. It offers unimaginable panoramic views of New York. Inaugurated the, 13 months after the skyscraper was opened to the public, the One World Trade Center observation deck, known as the One World Observatory, has become one of the most popular tourist attractions in New York. The rooftop stands 417 meters high, the same measurements as the first tower in the original World Trade Center. Standing 1,776 ft (541 m)-tall, it's currently the sixth-highest building in the world. They had previously created the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Willis Tower in Chicago, and Jin Mao Tower in China. The architect David Childs and Skidmore Owings & Merrill company were asked to design this new skyscraper. The skyscraper was inaugurated on 3 November 2014. During the first years, the skyscraper was known as Freedom Tower. Nevertheless, the first cornerstone was laid on 4 July 2004 - two years earlier, in a symbolic ceremony. The construction of the building began on 27 April 2006, nearly 5 years after the Twin Towers were destroyed. ![]() The four colours are black/light gold, black/purple, black/light grey, and light grey/light gold.Īvailable exclusively in the UK from Jigabite, the UK specialists in jigging and popping equipment.
